Home » Portadown to Osaka: The Team’s CNC Training at SNK
In August our Maintenance Lead, Jonathan Binks and Cell Leader, Jonathan Vaughan travelled to Osaka in Japan to take part in a specialist training programme with one of our suppliers, Shin Nippon Koki (SNK), a world-renowned manufacturer of CNC machinery.
The programme brought together engineers from across the globe, including Jin Fei Sark from SAM Malaysia. Over the course of the week, SNK’s team delivered sessions on machine operation, maintenance procedures and diagnostic techniques. With a mix of classroom learning and practical, hands-on work, participants were able to see first-hand how the CNC machines are designed, built and maintained.
For both Jonathans, the experience was a chance to sharpen their skills, practise new techniques, and deepen their understanding of what it takes to keep CNC machines running at their best. The skills and experience gained during the training will now be put into practice at our Portadown facility to improve productivity and ensure our machines continue to perform reliably.
But the trip wasn’t all about training. The visit also allowed the team to immerse themselves in Japanese culture. They spent time in Osaka and Kyoto, exploring the cities, trying local food and visiting well-known landmarks. From the vibrant streets of Osaka to the historic temples and gardens of Kyoto, the trip offered a memorable mix of professional growth and cultural discovery.
We are grateful to SNK for their support and hospitality during the visit. The knowledge and experience gained from this trip will continue to benefit the team for years to come.
